Hi,
I'm Colin Barnes and this is my Radio Control website.
I have a keen interest in radio control models and currently have a number of aeroplanes, cars, helicopters, hovercraft & multi-rotors. I have made a number of aeroplanes, multi-rotor models (Tri-copters, Quad-copters etc) and hovercraft. I have also restored a couple of vintage RC helicopters.
I am interested in a number of areas of radio control models including restoring vintage models and modifying existing (retail) models. My current main area of interest though is building aeroplanes, and quad-copters from scratch and trying to get them to fly (not always successful here). On this site you can find photos of my models and also plans and 3D print files for my prototype multi-rotors.
I currently live in Newtownards, Northern Ireland and I am a member of the North Down Model Flying Club.
My interest in aviation comes from my Grandfather, Flying Officer Ben Barnes, who was a Catalina pilot during World War 2, He was in 209 squadron RAF and was stationed at RAF Castle Archdale at Lough Erne in County Fermanagh. A 1990s TV documentary called "Atlantic Bridgehead" contains some information and interviews (including one with my Grandfather) about Coastal Command operations from Lough Erne. The documentary is now on Youtube.
My father, Ronnie Barnes, is a keen model scratch builder and has drawn many plans and built many models, there are details and pictures of some of these models on his website at RonniesModels.com.
